Copywriting - What Will Sell?

By Daniel Raisy

Have you been wondering why all the money you have invested in search engine optimization and your website design didn't result in boost of traffic and conversions? Are you trying to figure out where it all went wrong? Are you aware that attractive pictures and SEO alone will not work unless you add something very important to it? This important thing is content. If you would like to discover how can you start creating words that sell, here is an easy guide for you.

The most important thing in creating great sales copy is understanding human behavior. People are not driven to action by logic, they are driven by emotion. Not only that, no one is ever going to go out of their way to buy your product and help you out. Just like you, they either want to know what is in it for them or they want to find someone who will tell them what they want to hear.

In other words, try not to sell your products by telling how great they are, explain how people are going to benefit from them instead. Offer them some kind of emotional benefit instead of feature.

The second principle of creating good copy is getting into the readers mind. This gives you direct access to the command center of their brain and is going to make it easier for you to get them to take action. This does not mean that they will do whatever you ask. What it does mean is that you need to write the way that people speak. A conversational style is always going to win out over one that is dry and overly complicated. People dont talk that way or think that way, so it is not going to lead them to take action. Keep it simple and make sure that it flows just like your speech would.

The third principle is to write to one person you know instead of to a lot of people you dont know. Pretend that you are sitting down with a friend of yours and telling them about your product or service. You are not selling them; you are simply telling them about what it can do for them and conveying your passion and enthusiasm as a helpful friend.

In case you are still not sure how it works, just call one of your friends and explain all about your business and products. Record the conversation - this is going to help a lot.

If you put these principles into practice and avoid errors, you will be able to increase your conversions. Rewrite your copy as your skills develop and you feel its necessary, as it is the best way to become a great writer.

By applying these principles you will soon learn how a correctly made copy can promote your online business and increase your sales.
