Browsing For A Wonderful Film? Check Out These Excellent Film Evaluations

Every Hollywood producer has one target in mind when they make a film. They want to put out a movie that is a enormous success that the public loves. A terrific plot, some outstanding actors along with a few special effects and there you have the ingredients for a enormous box-office triumph. Or do you? Sometimes a film will have all of the theoretical required elements and it will still not succeed at the box office. There are no guaranteed recipes to make a Hollywood runaway success.

Lantana - Touching, adult storyline of relations obstructed by monotony, routine, and absence of articulation. LaPaglia plays a cop, whose marriage has stagnated, leading him to have an affair. In the mean time, he investigates the disappearance of a lady whose own marriage is in danger. The film is beautifully nuanced at every turn. Cast includes Anthony LaLaglia, Geoffrey Hurry, Barbara Hershey, Kerry Armstrong, Rachael Blake, Vince Colosimo, Daniela Farinacci, and Peter Phelps. (121 minutes, 2001)

Scandalous - Featherbrained charade in regards to investigative Television journalist who runs afoul of a team of con artists as he tries to extricate himself from a homicide charge. Cast includes Robert Hays, John Giegud, Pamela Stephenson, and Jim Dale. (94 minutes,'84)

Sexy Beast - A retired British criminal, living the life in Spain, is visited by a ferocious gangster who desires him to work one more heist. Trendy, aggressive, current day gangster's film has superb acting containing a special performance by Kingsley as the hateful perpetrator. Cast includes Ray Winstune, Ben Kingsley, Ian McShane, Cavan Kendall, Julianne White, Alvaro Monje, and James Fox. (88 minutes, 2001)

Fantasies - Sloppy gibberish in regards to Derek's and Hooten's attempts to turn a Greek island into a tourist trap. Shot in'73, while Bo was sixteen. Cast includes Bo Derek, Peter Hooten, Anna Alexiadis, Phaedon Gheorghitis, and Therese Bohlin. (81 minutes,'81)

Slaughter's Big Ripoff - A killer is still playing games with the Mafia in this dull action film. McMahon gives more effort to his role as the mafia boss than it is worth. Cast includes Jim Brown, Ed McMahon, Brock Peters, Don Stroud, Gloria Hendry, Dick Anthony Williams, and Art Metrano. (93 minutes,'73)
