Locating Cheap Motorcycles

By Thomas Crown

Motorcycles have been around for almost a hundred years and just as its hard to try to pin down where they were first invented and who was the genius behind the idea its almost impossible to explain why so many people are in love with these wonderful machines. Be it the thrill of the open road or the excitement that comes form the feeling of almost flying as you go down the highway, the motorcycle lifestyle is a way of living that gets down into your soul. The Motorcycle is a very personal machine and finding the right one at the right price is often hard to do.. if you are having a hard time finding cheap motorcycles to consider when looking at your purchase use these tips to make things easier.

There are plenty of places that you can use to find your cheap motorcycle, many of these places are online. In addition to online you can also try and find cheap deals on a motorcycle by looking in the classified section of your local newspaper and see if there are any deals in there for cheap motorcycles.

In addition to the resources available online you also can employ more traditional methods of searching for the perfect motorcycle for you. Some of these include your local newspaper and the aforementioned motorcycle trading papers. Biker magazines often include an area which caters both to those looking to sell a bike as well as those who are looking to buy.

Of course, the first place that many people begin their search for cheap motorcycles is at the nearest motorcycle shop. There are many advantages to visiting your local shop. Not only will you be able t get a first-hand look at the motorcycles they are offering, but you can also learn quite a bit more about which type of motorcycle might be best for you.

Just like you do with any other vehicle you need to exercise caution when you are buying a used motorcycle, granted it is a good indication if the bike has low mileage that tends to mean that the bike is in good condition. The only advice I can offer here is simply buyer beware and make sure you know what you are getting yourself into.

Along with the mileage you will need to look at other parts of the bike to determine if it has suffered any damage such as being in an accident. The first thing that will wind up hitting the ground are the handle bar grips. Check these to see if they are damaged in any way.

Check the chain to see id there are any signs of wear on it. In addition you will want to look at the chain and compare that to the mileage to see if the two are consistent with each other. On a lot older bikes the mileage was able to be manipulated very easy.

Now that you have done a complete once over it is time for you to seal the deal and make sure that you are buying the motorcycle that you truly want and are not just taking the first cheap thing that you see.

When it comes down to it owning a used motorcycle may be the end point of the journey but finding the one thats best for you is the beginning of a long fun road you will go down with your bike. The time you spend finding the perfect bike can be as much fun as the time you spend riding it. Enjoy the journey to ownership, and definitely enjoy the journeys ahead in ownership.
